- At this table, it's the moments that count, not the calories!
A camping table with many extras or a never ending story of a table! On our trips, we don't just want to escape the daily grind and have a change of pace from our "stressful" work lives. We want to enjoy everything on our trips, enjoy to the full, so a great camping table is indispensable. It should be lightweight, easy to transport, foldable and therefore easy to store. Nevertheless, it should have enough surface to be able to eat or work relaxed on it. For us, it's not just about going to the next campsite in the evening and putting the night behind us, but about experiencing an adventurous and relaxing time in nature, sitting together and preferably enjoying cool drinks over a cozy campfire, eating, chatting about God and the world or just sitting in silence! For weeks, the words have been constantly buzzing around in my head: camping table, light, easy to transport and store, campfire, cozy, warm, practical, multifunctional. The Eriba Touring already has a table on board, which you can attach to the outside of the existing rail with one or two handles. A really great thing, so every Touring driver can save the purchase of an additional camping table. We have also often used this option on our trips.... BUT!!! We tug the beautiful dining table from home also not in the garden, the feeling it could break something and the constant rearrangingdid not suit us. So our first purchase was a folding table that we can put anywhere in front of the caravan. BUT!!! what about the cozy sitting around the campfire? Well there are few campgrounds that allow it and if it rains the campfire romance is also quickly fallen into the water. Not for us! We have long thought about the materials and about a table that is not only light and has enough storage space, but which has an individual character and many possibilities. Here is our prototype! The materials We chose aluminum profiles because they are not only light, rustproof but also easy to work with. Our table frame consists of: Aluminum profile 20x20 groove 6 type B 2 x 100 cm and 2 x 50 cm 1 x 70 cm (foot) 6 x 20 x 54 x 1 cm poplar wood panels = table size 100 x 54 cm + accessories + poplar wood panels = 4.4 kg weight We cut the aluminum profiles to size and connected them to the angles ( image 1). To the frame (front / middle - image 2) we have screwed the joint connector (previously drilled a thread) and connected with the aluminum profile (foot). The suitably sawn plastic rail was screwed to the frame (rear - image 3). https://www.obelink.de/schiene-fur-tischplatte.html The table top consists of 5 poplar wood plates (5 x 20 cm = 1 m) Under each plate we have placed two screws on the left and right edge. So the plates can be pushed into the groove. We wanted to have a table that we can always rebuild or expand depending on your mood by different modules still if necessary. Here is a matching foot with which you can lengthen or shorten the table leg depending on the height. We will give our table 4 legs in the future so that it can not only hang on the rail, but also stand freely. Extra Table fire bowl A romantic evening around the campfire, unfortunately not always possible but with our fire bowl it is realisibar. With all the romance, the fire can also be used to warm, for example, punch. For this we bought an adjustable grate, but it can also be used as a dryer. Especially when it rains and the awning is extended. For the fire bowl we have also sawn out of the poplar wood (54 x 20cm) a suitable frame. Attention the fire bowl has an American gas connection here you need a suitable coupling / scarf for the German gas bottle. Please ask a specialist near you. First of all a note, we are not fire or gas experts rather pure "do-it-yourselfers"! Everyone is responsible for his own actions! Therefore CAUTION! We have our fire bowl connected to a 5 liter gas bottle. In the future, we want to have a pre-seal for a small gas cartridge and a windbreak built at the glazier. We report on the progress little by little! For those who find the handling of gas too dangerous, but do not want to give up the romance, here is an alternative: Who would like to have also a table engraving or a man candle of the besonderren kind, announces itself please to: https://www.instagram.com/dapper_roots/ Win-Win. - Sits, fits, doesn't wobble and has air!
Stowed away safely. Storing the dishes safely and rattle-free in the caravan / mobile home for the journey - an art in itself. Camping retailers offer ingenious systems that prevent dishes from sliding around in cupboards and drawers and, in the worst case, from breaking. We looked around the market, most of the solutions were expensive and not really adaptable. What if you want to change the equipment, what was good today can be impractical or broken tomorrow. We need a system that is not only functional and practical, but also individually tailored to us, can be changed at any time and is affordable! We decided on a rigid foam system insert that we can cut to size individually for our needs and our cupboards. And this is how it's done: Measure cabinets Cut the plate Place glasses, cups on them (note the height) Mark outlines Cut out outlines (carpet knife) Rework if necessary Put away - DONE! We tried both foams and found both to be good. This system is also suitable for many other storage options. Win win The links used are commission links, also known as affiliate links. - Outdoor hanging shelf
More space at the table A camping table is part of the basic equipment on every camping holiday. In order not to have to carry too much ballast with us, we found a table made of bamboo to be the best choice. Our table is 90 x 90 cm and offers enough space for two. But we also have the habit and really like to serve really big dishes, so space is sometimes tight, especially when there are visitors. That's why we came up with the idea of the hanging shelf. Here there is space for things that you can use within reach. We used these things for the self-construction: board, cord and two piping eyelets. Important with the cord: lightly burn the ends so that they do not fray. - Pin it!
Beautiful and practical at the Troll-lala's The Eriba Rockabilly... we are still enthusiastic and like our Troll very much. Our design does not necessarily change the original design, but it allows us to add a personal touch to an existing KULT-Eriba. The compartments in the door are certainly practical (everything has its fixed place in our house) so we store things here that we always put down when we go in or out. Unfortunately, we didn't like the plastic and colour design. We spat in our hands and with a cork placemat and double-sided adhesive tape, the compartments were not only spruced up, but also turned into a pinboard. Here you can find sayings such as: "Glasses, mobile phone, wallet with you?" or a "Carpe Diem" piece of wisdom! Win-Win The links used are commission links, also called affiliate links. - Let's PACK it on!
How we will be ready to leave in an hour: Through our short trips, we had been able to try out and test many things in the last weeks and months. And so we have developed a fixed routine when it comes to PACKING. In the meantime, we are ready to leave within an hour, without constantly asking ourselves whether we have everything or have forgotten something? ...after all, you want to be prepared for everything at GLAMPIG! The caravan and its equipment are always packed quickly, everything has found its place over time. After each trip, we clean, wash and refill things that have become empty (cosmetics, some food and kitchen accessories). Once we have decided to go on a trip, which we can afford to do quite spontaneously these days, the first thing we do is get 5 things out of the caravan: - Ikea bags 2x - Clothes hanger - water canister 2x - herb-pots - our Oh-Baggi We pack our clothes and shoes into the Ikea bags. Depending on the duration of the trip, the bag gets quite full. The lightweight plastic hangers are hung full of jackets, blouses and dresses, depending on the time of travel and the destination. The water for the toilet goes into one water canister and the water for cooking into the other. We place both canisters at the front under the table to get more load. Of course, our herb pots are always packed as well. Food and drinks from the fridge go into the red Oh-Baggi, which is usually enough for 2-3 meals, in case we can't go shopping directly after arrival or have a stopover. we can't go shopping straight away or have a stopover. After everything is stowed in the caravan and water is filled in the toilet flush, the troll can be hitched up and the journey can begin. - Project Trailer... curious?
From the beginning there was this image in my head... the perfect team! Addendum ↓ After the breakdown in Switzerland (turbocharger) and the associated expense, repair costs and broken nerves, we began to consider changing the car. The BMW now had over 200,000 km on the clock, and after the first year with Troll, the desire to travel was just beginning. What now? We don't know if others feel the same way, but we find it hard to part with some material things, the car for example. Somehow it is part of the family. The decision for a new tractor is not easy either, the only thing that was certain: it has to be white! The subject of motorisation: the motto is still the same "the more the better", although we are among the slower drivers. We want a diesel engine. We were not fixated on one brand and looked at countless cars, test drove them and calculated costs. Opinions and advice are as varied as people are. Shortly before making our decision, we looked at a VW Tiguan and found it to be not only chic but also a perfect fit for our Troll. Unfortunately, or shall we say sufficiently, the car has a 2L engine and 190 hp. The gut feeling screamed... YES! Another plus point was the Trailer Assist system. We are really excited about how easy we will soon be able to park. At the CMT trade fair 2020, we also purchased a Mover. Installation at the beginning of March. Foliation More on this topic in April -> we have the first cost estimates and will be inspired until the Tiguan is delivered. Addendum 25.10.20 We decided against the foiling and will replace the idea with a Yupo foil (logo). The foil can be easily removed (no glue- no glue marks) and reused. Another aspect why the foiling does not work on our Tiguan is: the foiling is only possible on painted surfaces. Our Tiguan, however, has a black plastic strip at the bottom. Addendum 11.08.21 We have been driving our Tiguan with the decorative adhesive strips for over a year now. The strips are an absolute eye-catcher! The tape is easy to apply, nothing tears, nothing frays. We are very satisfied with the strips. Whether hand washed or washed in a car wash, everything holds. The colour has not changed. - What are you doing in my closet?
Practical idea for the 2-person wardrobe doors in the caravan. If you drive an ERIBA Touring 530 or have a two-door wardrobe in your caravan, you may be familiar with the problem that you have to open the left door to be able to open the right one. It has always annoyed us. Yesterday, we got to grips with the wardrobe door, well... with the locking system. We borrowed the idea from @marco.frischknecht.587, one of many hacks that will be implemented bit by bit! Thanks Marco! From now on, we can open both doors individually, independently of each other. On the next tour we will test whether the doors hold like this, otherwise we will have to find another solution. We fixed both magnets in the middle of the wardrobe doors (measure well and pay attention to the distance between the door and the wardrobe). We unscrewed the strip on the right-hand cupboard door and screwed it back on upside down. It's very light and doesn't really get in the way and covers the screw holes. We're still thinking about getting a similar knob for the right-hand door, so that it's not only visually nicer but also more practical. If we find something suitable, we will report back. - The proof of the pudding is in the copying...
What sticks holds! The Wellens oasis in the Troll is not really big, but it still has everything you need, and that's something we really appreciate in our caravan, according to the motto: small but nice! Whether it's a short weekend or a 14-day summer holiday, it quickly becomes like a cosmetics shop in our bathroom. What was previously nicely stowed away in cosmetics bags at home is naturally unpacked in the caravan bathroom, ready to hand. There are plenty of storage options, but everything has to be packed away again before every change of site or before the journey home. Some ERIBA models have a tensioning system in the bathroom as standard, but if that's not enough for you, you can adjust it a little like we did. We also saw this idea at @marco.frischknecht.587, only implemented a little differently. We attached a surface-mounted cable holder with 3x10mm screws. There are different versions here, we used the two models as shown in the pictures. Win-Win The links used are commission links, also called affiliate links. - A good idea is like the fourth leaf of clover 🍀
The long-thought-out solution is here! Hooray!!! We finally have a storage system that not only fits perfectly in and under our Troll, but is also multifunctional. Everything that is needed for assembly and dismantling goes into one box, the rest of the camping equipment into the other. And ... if we get a spontaneous visitor, seating is provided. In order to get to seat height, we also have two somewhat low boxes, e.g. B. purchased for more shoes 😊. Our boxing: 2 times: red handles closed, dimensions (DxWxH): 600 x 400 x 220 with lid and seat cushion 2 times: red handles closed, dimensions (DxWxH): 600 x 400 x 170 If you are interested, you can save 5% with the code: Troll-lala-2021 @ab_in_die_box We are very satisfied with the transport boxes, everything we need when camping fits into the 4 boxes. With the rails (glued), the boxes stay on track and can be easily pulled out Possible in different color combinations Win win The links used are commission links, also known as affiliate links. - Exciting is something for beginners, professionals take a deep breath first!
The first résumé after the first 2-week vacation with our Eriba Rockabilly. What kind of campers are we? Does the equipment fit ... what is mucked out, what must still be on board? What we wouldn't want to do without ... our TOP 10. What works and what doesn't ... we will answer all the questions here. What kind of campers are we? We are definitely fair weather campers. We are more drawn to the water, but we also had very nice experiences in the mountains. However, the principle of planning is still the same and we have made our findings, especially during the Corona period. We are often inspired by the experiences / pictures of other travelers. We also do spontaneous tours around the corner and notice how good it is. In the beginning we had a great desire for self-sufficient travel, but have since moved away from it more and more. A camping site offers many advantages, but it costs a lot. If we go on tours that require overnight stays, we actually look for beautiful self-sufficient places and really only stay there to spend the night. Let's not kid ourselves, the main difference between camping and self-sufficient places is that someone always stops to marvel at us ... 😎 Arriving was also an issue on our last vacation. After an hour-long drive, we wanted a nice pitch, set up everything and go on vacation for 14 days. The weather forced us to move again and again this time, so the motto was: "Always follow the sun". Unfortunately, there was no real relaxation, but we saw a lot of Italy and so a lot of positive impressions and the desire for more Italy arose. The conclusion: stay spontaneous and positive! The weather cannot be planned, we don't like a campsite, we move. Glamping! Freedom, mobility, closeness to nature. These terms are deeply related to camping. This is exactly what we like. The corresponding glamping factor can be achieved through the exclusivity of the caravan and equipment - depending on your mood. With our little Eriba Rockabilly we are absolutely part of it! Sometimes we feel like exotic at a campsite. There are campers who shake their heads, then there are those who say "oh-is-that-schöööön-may-we-take-a-picture?". Of course the second ones are more sympathetic to us! After two years of caravan experience, the hype is still there! Every time we enter the caravan it smells like ... joy, vacation, freedom! Does the equipment fit? In the beginning, the equipment was adjusted anew after every trip. We think we won't want to turn it off either. Optimizing has somehow become our hobby and what doesn't fit is made to fit! Of course, we then only speak of "perfection", because we are now very satisfied with the way it is. Was fliegt raus? We always have fun with ourselves, because as a beginner you have to drag a lot into the caravan, we wanted to be prepared for all situations. You are a beginner but you don't want to make the mistakes of others ... but that's how you make others! The television has now finally moved out of the troll. We hardly have time for it ... Thank God we didn't have the idea to pack a satellite dish on the roof ... haha! The city scooters will stay at home from now on, in principle we liked to walk more and if we had to go further, the bikes are an absolute must. But they don't always go along either. In the meantime, we often decide before the trip what we want and what goals and ideas we have. Some decorations that weren't in any way practical or multifunctional also left the caravan. Books are no longer packed, only the e-book is on board. The problem that there are always too many clothes and shoes with you ... we're working on it! 🤣 After the rather unpleasant experience of the false smoke alarm in our absence, with 3 fire engines, police and an ambulance, we deactivated the smoke alarm. What else do you need to have on board? A tarpaulin has to be on board, the racing bikes don't get nicer when they get rain and salt water. We had not yet managed to extend our awning in rain or wind. The lashing straps we have are no good. The next purchase has been made. Bathing shoes also have to be in the caravan from now on ... you need them more often than you think, not only on a vacation in Croatia. A slightly larger awning carpet is on the wish list. Win win The links used are commission links, also known as affiliate links. If you click on such a link and buy something on the landing page, we receive a commission from the relevant provider or online shop. There are no disadvantages for you in terms of purchase or price The TOP 10 Top 10, where do you start? At first glance, so many things seem to be indispensable. We mention here what is not included as standard. Top 10 in the caravan: (but the order is not to be assessed) 1. Furs (mostly on the synthetic leather upholstery in the dining room, if necessary outside on the camping chairs) 2. Felt plate (a large one is on the dining table, smaller ones on the stove top, the leftover pieces on the storage shelves or in cupboards) 3. The topper indispensable on the bed !!! 4. Gas water heater (collapsible) and thermos flask 5. Cupboard plates for crockery / glasses made to measure (designed in-house and can be re-optimized again and again) 6. Kitchen rail (whether kitchen roll or things that you need quickly or often when cooking - always at hand) 7. Hanging garden (without herbs that also make the caravan cozy, we couldn't go any more) 8. Mobile muesli or spice rack 9. Fruit nets - which you always hit your head on, no matter where they hang 10. Schlüpi-Shark - small dirty laundry sack Top 10 in front of the caravan: (but the order is not to be evaluated) Stacking boxes in which the camping accessories have their place very neatly. They provide additional seating and, stacked on top of one another, offer a great cook / schnippel top. They are fixed on the rails in a minute, inside or outside. Gas cooking grill that is very suitable for a wok Charcoal grill that hardly makes smoke and dirt Movers! Never again without it Camping table made of aluminum and bamboo Director's chairs that are light and comfortable Relax camping chairs The carpet makes everything cozier and cleaner Outdoor hanging shelf, our sun glass solar lamp is always there Pennant chain, when it hangs - the holiday begins. Win win The links used are commission links, also known as affiliate links. If you click on such a link and buy something on the landing page, we receive a commission from the relevant provider or online shop. There are no disadvantages for you in terms of purchase or price What works and what doesn't? YES: Dealing with the mover, attaching or detaching it from the caravan is really a game now and we now dare to go anywhere with the caravan. It was the most expensive but also the most important investment. Setup or dismantling takes about 30 minutes. Success is due to two things: the tasks are very well divided everything has its fixed place, so it's like playing Lego NO: So far we have not dared / managed to leave the awning outside in storms and rain. If both racing bikes are set up on the caravan stand, the support wheel can no longer be cranked up or down or there are always injuries, so a more practical solution has to be found. Future project: Vacuum cleaner system :) and flexible faucet in the kitchen, of course in red!
