The first résumé after the first 2-week vacation with our Eriba Rockabilly.
What kind of campers are we? Does the equipment fit ... what is mucked out, what must still be on board? What we wouldn't want to do without ... our TOP 10. What works and what doesn't ... we will answer all the questions here.
What kind of campers are we?
We are definitely fair weather campers. We are more drawn to the water, but we also had very nice experiences in the mountains. However, the principle of planning is still the same and we have made our findings, especially during the Corona period. We are often inspired by the experiences / pictures of other travelers. We also do spontaneous tours around the corner and notice how good it is. In the beginning we had a great desire for self-sufficient travel, but have since moved away from it more and more. A camping site offers many advantages, but it costs a lot. If we go on tours that require overnight stays, we actually look for beautiful self-sufficient places and really only stay there to spend the night. Let's not kid ourselves, the main difference between camping and self-sufficient places is that someone always stops to marvel at us ... 😎
Arriving was also an issue on our last vacation. After an hour-long drive, we wanted a nice pitch, set up everything and go on vacation for 14 days. The weather forced us to move again and again this time, so the motto was: "Always follow the sun". Unfortunately, there was no real relaxation, but we saw a lot of Italy and so a lot of positive impressions and the desire for more Italy arose. The conclusion: stay spontaneous and positive! The weather cannot be planned, we don't like a campsite, we move. Glamping! Freedom, mobility, closeness to nature. These terms are deeply related to camping. This is exactly what we like. The corresponding glamping factor can be achieved through the exclusivity of the caravan and equipment - depending on your mood. With our little Eriba Rockabilly we are absolutely part of it! Sometimes we feel like exotic at a campsite. There are campers who shake their heads, then there are those who say "oh-is-that-schöööön-may-we-take-a-picture?". Of course the second ones are more sympathetic to us! After two years of caravan experience, the hype is still there! Every time we enter the caravan it smells like ... joy, vacation, freedom!
Does the equipment fit?
In the beginning, the equipment was adjusted anew after every trip. We think we won't want to turn it off either. Optimizing has somehow become our hobby and what doesn't fit is made to fit! Of course, we then only speak of "perfection", because we are now very satisfied with the way it is.
Was fliegt raus?
We always have fun with ourselves, because as a beginner you have to drag a lot into the caravan, we wanted to be prepared for all situations. You are a beginner but you don't want to make the mistakes of others ... but that's how you make others! The television has now finally moved out of the troll. We hardly have time for it ... Thank God we didn't have the idea to pack a satellite dish on the roof ... haha! The city scooters will stay at home from now on, in principle we liked to walk more and if we had to go further, the bikes are an absolute must. But they don't always go along either. In the meantime, we often decide before the trip what we want and what goals and ideas we have. Some decorations that weren't in any way practical or multifunctional also left the caravan. Books are no longer packed, only the e-book is on board. The problem that there are always too many clothes and shoes with you ... we're working on it! 🤣 After the rather unpleasant experience of the false smoke alarm in our absence, with 3 fire engines, police and an ambulance, we deactivated the smoke alarm.
What else do you need to have on board?
A tarpaulin has to be on board, the racing bikes don't get nicer when they get rain and salt water. We had not yet managed to extend our awning in rain or wind. The lashing straps we have are no good. The next purchase has been made. Bathing shoes also have to be in the caravan from now on ... you need them more often than you think, not only on a vacation in Croatia. A slightly larger awning carpet is on the wish list.

The TOP 10 Top 10, where do you start? At first glance, so many things seem to be indispensable. We mention here what is not included as standard. Top 10 in the caravan: (but the order is not to be assessed) 1. Furs (mostly on the synthetic leather upholstery in the dining room, if necessary outside on the camping chairs) 2. Felt plate (a large one is on the dining table, smaller ones on the stove top, the leftover pieces on the storage shelves or in cupboards) 3. The topper indispensable on the bed !!! 4. Gas water heater (collapsible) and thermos flask 5. Cupboard plates for crockery / glasses made to measure (designed in-house and can be re-optimized again and again) 6. Kitchen rail (whether kitchen roll or things that you need quickly or often when cooking - always at hand) 7. Hanging garden (without herbs that also make the caravan cozy, we couldn't go any more) 8. Mobile muesli or spice rack 9. Fruit nets - which you always hit your head on, no matter where they hang 10. Schlüpi-Shark - small dirty laundry sack
Top 10 in front of the caravan: (but the order is not to be evaluated)
Stacking boxes in which the camping accessories have their place very neatly. They provide additional seating and, stacked on top of one another, offer a great cook / schnippel top. They are fixed on the rails in a minute, inside or outside.
Gas cooking grill that is very suitable for a wok
Charcoal grill that hardly makes smoke and dirt
Movers! Never again without it
Camping table made of aluminum and bamboo
Director's chairs that are light and comfortable
Relax camping chairs
The carpet makes everything cozier and cleaner
Outdoor hanging shelf, our sun glass solar lamp is always there
Pennant chain, when it hangs - the holiday begins.

What works and what doesn't? YES: Dealing with the mover, attaching or detaching it from the caravan is really a game now and we now dare to go anywhere with the caravan. It was the most expensive but also the most important investment. Setup or dismantling takes about 30 minutes. Success is due to two things: the tasks are very well divided everything has its fixed place, so it's like playing Lego NO: So far we have not dared / managed to leave the awning outside in storms and rain. If both racing bikes are set up on the caravan stand, the support wheel can no longer be cranked up or down or there are always injuries, so a more practical solution has to be found. Future project: Vacuum cleaner system :) and flexible faucet in the kitchen, of course in red!
