At this table, it's the moments that count, not the calories!

A camping table with many extras or a never ending story of a table!

On our trips, we don't just want to escape the daily grind and have a change of pace from our "stressful" work lives. We want to enjoy everything on our trips, enjoy to the full, so a great camping table is indispensable. It should be lightweight, easy to transport, foldable and therefore easy to store. Nevertheless, it should have enough surface to be able to eat or work relaxed on it.

For us, it's not just about going to the next campsite in the evening and putting the night behind us, but about experiencing an adventurous and relaxing time in nature, sitting together and preferably enjoying cool drinks over a cozy campfire, eating, chatting about God and the world or just sitting in silence!

For weeks, the words have been constantly buzzing around in my head: camping table, light, easy to transport and store, campfire, cozy, warm, practical, multifunctional.

The Eriba Touring already has a table on board, which you can attach to the outside of the existing rail with one or two handles. A really great thing, so every Touring driver can save the purchase of an additional camping table. We have also often used this option on our trips.... BUT!!!

We tug the beautiful dining table from home also not in the garden, the feeling it could break something and the constant rearrangingdid not suit us. So our first purchase was a folding table that we can put anywhere in front of the caravan.

BUT!!!

what about the cozy sitting around the campfire? Well there are few campgrounds that allow it and if it rains the campfire romance is also quickly fallen into the water. Not for us!

We have long thought about the materials and about a table that is not only light and has enough storage space, but which has an individual character and many possibilities. Here is our prototype!

The materials

We chose aluminum profiles because they are not only light, rustproof but also easy to work with.

Our table frame consists of:

Aluminum profile 20x20 groove 6 type B

2 x 100 cm and

2 x 50 cm

1 x 70 cm (foot)

6 x 20 x 54 x 1 cm poplar wood panels

= table size 100 x 54 cm + accessories + poplar wood panels = 4.4 kg weight

We cut the aluminum profiles to size and connected them to the angles ( image 1).

To the frame (front / middle - image 2) we have screwed the joint connector (previously drilled a thread) and connected with the aluminum profile (foot).

The suitably sawn plastic rail was screwed to the frame (rear - image 3).

The table top consists of 5 poplar wood plates (5 x 20 cm = 1 m) Under each plate we have placed two screws on the left and right edge. So the plates can be pushed into the groove.

We wanted to have a table that we can always rebuild or expand depending on your mood by different modules still if necessary.

Here is a matching foot with which you can lengthen or shorten the table leg depending on the height.

We will give our table 4 legs in the future so that it can not only hang on the rail, but also stand freely.

Extra

Table fire bowl

A romantic evening around the campfire, unfortunately not always possible but with our fire bowl it is realisibar. With all the romance, the fire can also be used to warm, for example, punch.

For this we bought an adjustable grate, but it can also be used as a dryer. Especially when it rains and the awning is extended.

For the fire bowl we have also sawn out of the poplar wood (54 x 20cm) a suitable frame.

Attention the fire bowl has an American gas connection here you need a suitable coupling / scarf for the German gas bottle. Please ask a specialist near you.

First of all a note, we are not fire or gas experts rather pure "do-it-yourselfers"!

Everyone is responsible for his own actions! Therefore CAUTION!

We have our fire bowl connected to a 5 liter gas bottle. In the future, we want to have a pre-seal for a small gas cartridge and a windbreak built at the glazier. We report on the progress little by little!

For those who find the handling of gas too dangerous, but do not want to give up the romance, here is an alternative:

Who would like to have also a table engraving or a man candle of the besonderren kind, announces itself please to:
